How We Took Action for No Poverty

Chapter 1: Introduction
We all know that the world right now is full of burning issues which are a threat to humanity and mankind. These issues are mostly climate change, pollution inequality and much more. But what about poverty? Isn’t that a burning issue too? In my perspective, Yes. It is a very crucial issue around the world going right as you read this. We researched and found out that fortunately this is 1 of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) made by the United nations. We wanted to solve poverty at all costs and that is what brings us to take action on it. In this article we will show how we took action on poverty and you can do too whether outside or right from your couch. This is our time and we must do this together. Even the smallest actions can create a big leap of humanity over poverty.

Chapter 2: What is Poverty?
In basic words poverty is when a person loses the basic necessities of life and can’t get basic daily needs for financial reasons. Poverty is mainly there in overpopulated cities. There are a lot of reasons to care about poverty, First of all poverty claims 1.5 million people each year. Which is a huge number and can cause tremendous damage to our world. Poverty can be caused by lack of education, LIttle or no jobs to give a handsome amount of money, Social injustice, conflict, Lack of food and water and many more. Poverty impacts the economy severely by decreasing GDP rate and making a big percentage of the population unemployed and behind the poverty line which slowly can lead to anarchy and war. There is still hope as many people are stepping out to take action. Since 1990 more than 1.2 billion people have gotten out of extreme poverty which is a sign that there is still enough time. Hence we gather tons of knowledge and started to do something

Chapter 3: What can you do?
There are many things you can do to take action against poverty. Such as Giving food, clothes and water to poor people, raising fundraisers, donating money to charity organizations, donating books and pens and Raising awareness about poverty, Its effects and its impact on society. We can also go to the Action website and find a thing we can do on our own. Our recommendation will be to gather an audience and make a big group and slowly grow and present your ideas to UNDP. You can also go small by just spreading awareness and giving charity online. You can sponsor a child or if you have a sum of money, buy a house for the poor. Gathering knowledge is also an action. You can do social experiments, interviews and many other practical actions. It seems very easy but it is 1 step for the eradication of poverty. You can also penetrate at the roots of poverty like teaching unprivileged children education as it eradicates lack of education, striking for world peace as it stops war and conflict or simply making the world more eco – friendly as it eradicates climate change. You can also give a job to a person who is unemployed or start a feeding scheme as it can solve hunger problems. You can also buy bread every day and feed it to a homeless man. You can sponsor a child and spread awareness about him and now we will share some more common solutions for poverty. :

Educate children
Provide clean water
Ensure basic health care
Empower a girl or woman
Improve childhood nutrition
Support environmental programs
Reach children in conflict

Prevent child marriage
There are so many things to do! All you have to do is a plan and an aim and always remember to aim for the moon but if you miss you will surely hit a star.

Chapter 4: What can you do from your couch?
Don’t wanna work that much? Well not a worry! We have got your back.If you wanna do something just from sitting on the couch then here are some easy peazy actions. First of all, you can spread awareness in different media and then you can donate money through online funds. We can also donate some money to child organizations and red crescent. We can advise our parents and relatives to take notice of poverty. We can teach our siblings what poverty is and we can teach them education. We can make a virtual team and aware people on the internet as that is the most populated area nowadays. We can connect to the global network and be part of a team, Giving money for food via Food organizations for poor people, Donating money to fundraisers and donating books online and making videos on YouTube for spreading awareness about poverty.

Everything can be done on the internet so let’s use our skill in good work and eradicate poverty from our couch.

Chapter 5: What Actions We Take.

At last our final fruit from the tree we took care of. These are all the actions we took as a team and we are excited for doing something much bigger next time.

◇ advising our parents about poverty and awearing on how it is crucial.

◇ Giving pens to poor children so they can save money and continue following their dreams and education

◇ Saving pocket money to donate to the school for charity

◇ Awareness events through online about poverty

◇ An interview with anti – poverty non-government organization RDRS which is in my community

Our message to the world:
Earth is our home and it is our responsibility to ensure its safety. With poverty it is much more difficult to do that. We want our home to be poverty free as we are the change makers, we are the IB Learners!
